Research Infrastructure
The University of Freiburg has established modern infrastructure to provide all life scientists with state-of-the-art technologies.
The infrastructure is organised on two levels. Technology Platforms are organisational entities that facilitate access to state-of-the-art research resources in a specific technology area. Each platform is organised by a team of leading scientists, and available resources and access mechanisms are documented in the intranet. The technology platform scientists also advise the faculties and the Vice Rector for Research regarding new technology needs.
Core Facilities provide state-of-the art equipment and training in a specific area. They are located in modern labs and headed by expert scientists. Core facility use is available at actual project-related costs (usage charges only cover components accepted by DFG). Several CIBSS-relevant core facilities are directly located in the BIOSS Signalhaus, the CISA and the forthcoming IMITATE. They provide technologies and offer training for Freiburg life science researchers.
