Biogenesis of mitochondrial membranes:

The mitochondrial membranes are crucial for oxidative phosphorylation and cell survival. Most of the mitochondrial membrane proteins and lipids are synthesized in the cytosol and the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) respectively. We analyze the ER-mitochondria encounter structure, which forms an inter-organellar connection, and the protein translocases in the inner and outer membrane required for the import of membrane proteins and lipids.
