Elevated expression of the cysteine protease cathepsin B (CTSB) has been correlated with a poor prognosis for cancer patients. Here we demonstrate that human CTSB expression in mice facilitates progression of PymT-induced breast cancer and lung metastasis, and is associated with enhanced immune
cell infiltration and angiogenesis.
