Regulation of broad by the Notch pathway affects timing of follicle cell development

We identify a cis regulatory module (CRM) that integrates multiple signaling inputs, including Notch- and EGFR-signaling, during Drosophila follicle cell patterning, an emerging model for studying epithelial patterning, differentiation and integrity. Our work directly connects a signaling cue (Notch) to its target gene (the Zn-finger transcription factor broad) and to a biological output (temporal control of cell cycle programs).
