EURIdoc Research Focus

The 27 research projects in this doctoral program will contribute to the advancement of our knowledge along the spectrum extending from basic immunity through to the transfer of this knowledge to applications in the clinical environment. Drawing from the immunological expertise in the Upper Rhine region, the research projects focus on three key themes:

  • Haematopoiesis and Development
  • Innate and adaptive effector functions
  • Immune-related diseases

The first theme examines how the cells of the immune system form, focusing on the niches in which immune cells and their progenitors operate. The second theme examines how the immune system functions in the defense against pathogens and tumors, giving particular attention to antigen recognition and signal transduction. In the third theme, findings from basic research are used to identify new options for treating diseases such as tumors or viral infections in translational approaches.
