The rectorate of the University of Bielefeld/Germany has appointed Prof. Dr. Ralf Reski, Distinguished Professor Plant Biotechnology and member of the cluster of excellence BIOSS Centre for Biological Signalling Studies of the University of Freiburg/Germany, as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of their Center for Biotechnology (CeBiTec). The SAB members are appointed for the term from 1st April 2016 until 31st March 2020. The constituent meeting of the SAB now took place in Bielefeld. 

CeBiTec’s mission is to bundle the biotechnological activities and research projects at the University of Bielefeld, to foster cross-linking of research approaches and technologies from different research fields and to develop innovative projects within its two main research areas: “Large Scale Genomics and Big Data Bioinformatics” and “Metabolic Engineering of Unicellular Systems and Bioproduction”. Further SAB members are Dr. Rolf Apweiler, EMBL – European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) in Hinxton/UK, Prof. Dr. Sabine Flitsch, Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) of the University of Manchester/UK, Dr. Ralf Kelle, Evonik Industries AG in Halle (Westfalen)/Germany, Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Lengauer, Max-Planck-Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken/Germany, and Prof. Dr. Bettina Siebers, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Duisburg-Essen/Germany.
