Barbara Hobom Prize 2010

The Centre for Biological Signalling Studies (BIOSS) works hard to promote women working in the life sciences and bioengineering by helping them to grow, develop and succeed in their field. We especially encourage and provide assistance to young women in their scientific career. BIOSS will be awarding the first Barbara Hobom Prize for outstanding women scientists working in the fields of synthetic biology, signalling and bioengineering.

Candidates should conduct innovative and outstanding research in these areas. The laureate will be awarded €10,000 toward furthering her research. These funds can be spent according to the DFG guidelines for lab consumables as well as for participating in a research collaboration project with an international institution.

Applicants should send the following:

  • application form (download here)
  • CV
  • a brief description of their research project (1-2 pages) and a letter of reference from their advisor

The applications will be reviewed by a committee which will be established by the steering committee of BIOSS.
