Science Slam "Excellence Special": Open-air science event with Jun. Prof. Winfried Römer

A special Science Slam will take place on 19 July 2011 in the MensaGarten on Rempartstraße. Young scientists from different clusters of excellence at the University of Freiburg will present their research in an entertaining form. Representing BIOSS, Junior Professor Winfried Römer will provide a special look into his field of research. The Slam is for the students and staff of the entire University as well as for school classes. All BIOSS members are invited to come and cheer for Winfried Römer.

Explain science so everyone understands in 10 minutes is what the young scientists from different fields have to do in the Science Slam. After the three previous Science Slams were big hits in Freiburg, the organisers decided to do an "Excellence Special” with scientists from the University of Freiburg’s clusters of excellence. At the end of the event, the audience votes for the Master of Slam. The scientist with the most votes wins a one-day presenter training session at the SWR broadcasting studio in Baden-Baden.

The Science Slam will take place on Tuesday 19 July 2011 at 9 pm in the MensaGarten on Rempartstraße (or in the MensaBar if rainy weather). The entrance fee is €3 for students and University members.
