This study compares fully automated supervised detection methods for identification of certain leasons in volumetric brain images of patients with dementia. Images from different magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) pulse sequences were coregistered to a brain atlas and combined with white matter segmentation information from this atlas. The features were extracted of the surrounding of each voxel. The propsed approach is very general and can easily be transferred to other biomedical applications dealing with volumetric data sets.
