Detection of malignant biliary tract diseases, especially cholangiocarcinoma (CC) in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), is difficult and often too late
for therapy. CE-MS identified disease-specific peptide patterns in patients with choledocholithiasis, PSC & CC. Models for differentiation between the before mentioned conditions were validated. Peptides were sequenced by LC-MS/MS. Bile proteomic analysis discriminates benign conditions from malignant lesions  & offers a new possibility for early diagnosis and therapy of CC/PSC.
