Peat lands play an essential role in world`s climate as CO2 sinks and are important ecosystems. In fact, all peat lands store double the amount of CO2 than all forests combined. These special and sensitive habitats consist of various Sphagnum (peat moss) species and their conservation is indispensable for our planet. We here provide the first establishment of a relatively stable peat moss protonema proliferation method, beneficial for propagation of juvenile peat moss material and its research on signaling in plant body development.
