The phosphatases PP1 and PP2A account for the majority of dephosphorylation on phosphoserine (pS) and phosphothreonine (pT). Scientists from the Köhn lab show that the specificity of PP1 and PP2A holoenzymes towards pT and of PP1 for basic motifs are intrinsic properties of the catalytic subunits.
