Charting the kinase-phosphatase-protease network driving pancreatic cancer

Dr. Tilman Brummer (Institute for Molecular Medicine and Cell Research, University of Freiburg)

Therapeutic options for pancreatic cancer are very limited. Key hallmarks of metastasis such as tumour cell motility and invasion are driven by a disturbed kinase/phosphatase equilibrium and aberrant protease activity. Kinases represent prime drug targets of growing clinical relevance. In this project, we will screen for kinases with yet undefined roles in the initiation and metastasis of pancreatic cancer.
