Teaching

BIOSS has already introduced Synthetic Biology as a new teaching topic in the Bachelor and Masters´s Programme of the Faculty of Biology. BIOSS is offering an extended programme in interdisciplinary lectures and practical courses "Engineering meets Biology" not only for students in Biology, but also in Engineering to familiarize them with the complementary disciplines. In addition to this, various courses for the Bachelor/Master Biology as well as for the Master Biochemistry/Biophysics are held in the Signalhaus.

Since many years, an iGEM team that participates in the iGEM competition (https://igem.org) has been formed and is supported by BIOSS and CIBSS.  The Core Facility Signalling Factory plays a responsible and advisory role for the experimental implementation of the project. In addition, BIOSS regularly offers lectures and the performance of experiments as part of a visit of the Kulturakademie to the Signalhaus.
